What It Is

Back in Stock automation notifies shoppers when an out-of-stock product they requested becomes available again.

It converts pent-up demand into immediate sales and is one of the highest-performing retail automations.

Example Message

MMS with product image (SMS fallback if not supported):

“{{product_name}} is back in stock in your size! Tap to shop now: {{product_url}}. This is a one-time alert.”

Best-Practice Default Settings

• Message Type: MMS with product image (preferred); SMS fallback if not supported
• Timing: Immediate when product/variant restocks (>0 units)

Inclusions

• Shopper explicitly opted in for a BIS notification
• User is identified and opted in
• Product/variant is back in stock and purchasable

Suppressions

• Quiet hours: 8 PM–8 AM local (messages queued until morning)

Product Logic

• Sends for the specific product/variant the shopper requested
• Restock link leads directly to that variant pre-selected

Frequency Controls

• One message per opt-in (shopper must re-subscribe if item sells out again)
